Yesterday I built the first prototype dry-stone wall using the output of the Rocksolver program as a guide. The wall is about 1m long and half a metre high. It’s shown below, with the virtual Rocksolver structure.
Even without structural stability criteria being explicitly programmed into Rocksolver it does produce some stable structures by virtue of the packing algorithm being used. The sequence below shows the virtual wall being demolished by a simulated earthquake in the virtual Rocksolver world.
